May we know you?
I am Nnemelu Ifeomachukwu Shalon with the penname Iphey_writes
why did you choose writing?
I always say, I didn’t choose writing, writing chose me. Writing is like life to me, you have to breathe to live.. And breathing is a reflex action. You just breathe God determines if you live or not.. The gods of writing determines if I write or not.
Do you write fiction or non-fiction?
I write both but mostly fiction.
Tell us how you combine school with writing
Coping with school work and writing is just like living and eating. You live and then you eat to keep living. I write and then I go to school to write. it’s not really a problem combining the both, but what can I say, God has been faithful. He gives the strength and I do them both without stress.
What inspires you to write?
Nature inspires me to write The feeling of love inspires my writing Having been to the world of depression and back, it also inspires me. Pain inspires me, The world as a whole inspires me.

What benefits and recognition have you got from writing?
I must agree that writing has brought me to a point at least, that I command certain respect and admiration from peers, family, friends and the little fans scattered around the globe. Talking of the benefits of writing, around last year November, I attended an African writers conference and it gave the opportunity of meeting people around Africa. I also enjoy familiarity and friendship with people way ahead of me in the world of arts which encompasses writing.
Do you plan to take writing as a career?
There is something called Talent, another thing called passion and the last one career. God blessed me with the talent of writing which is rare, I have the passion for it, it would only be fair if it happens to be my career.
What else will you do if not writing?
If not writing, photography
what is your advice for future writers and how they can top up their game?
My advice to future writers is for them to never allow their love for money or their thirst for a ‘more reputable career’ make them derail from their writing. They can top up their game by making friends in the industry, old and young. Attend seminars and conferences where they learn more
